Many of those who served first commission will remember Commander Richard Sharpe (later Captain Sharpe and editor of Jane's Fighting Ships) who was the CO immediately prior to the Chatham refit. We have been contacted by his son, Commander Tom Sharpe, former CO of HMS Endurance when she flooded and came close to sinking in the South Atlantic. Tom is keen to hear from anyone who served with his father and has memories of him. Richard Sharpe is alive and well but is not keen to speak to Tom about his time in the Navy and, as Tom says, his father is not getting any younger.
